| DECEMBER 2025 NEWSLETTER |
As the year comes to an end, I thought it would be a great time to reflect on our past year here in the legislature and in the District.
| LEGISLATIVE UPDATE |
This legislative session, I was proud to see several bills I authored signed into law by Governor Newsom—each focused on making California work better for everyday people.
We advanced smarter, faster, and greener housing with AB 253, which streamlines post-entitlement permitting so projects can break ground sooner, and AB 368, which moves California toward next-generation energy-efficient building standards.
We also took meaningful steps to protect privacy and civil rights. AB 82 strengthens safeguards for sensitive health data, especially for those seeking and providing legally protected and gender-affirming care.
Across the state, we modernized outdated systems that were costing time and money. AB 518 reduces red tape for low-impact camping and outdoor recreation, AB 629 updates outdated school inventory rules to save districts valuable resources, and AB 930 — the Electoral Efficiency Act — improves the fairness, transparency, and accessibility of voting and recounts.
Finally, we expanded access to care with AB 1103, which reforms the Research Advisory Panel of California to speed up critical medical and mental-health research, with a particular focus on supporting our veterans.
These new laws reflect our commitment to building a more efficient, equitable, and forward-looking California—and there's more work ahead.

Holiday Event Sponsorships
Every year, I have the opportunity to work with organizations to sponsor holiday events in my district. This year, our sponsorships have gone to PATH (People Assisting the Homeless), Promises2Kids, Bayside Community Center, Elderhelp, Copley Price YMCA, San Diego LGBT Center, Survivors of Torture, and Rainbow Space. From holiday skates to toy drives to Thanksgiving luncheons, I am proud to be able to give back to my district during this holiday season.
